Spinball: Spiral Out Of Control
Overview:
Spinball was created in 48 hours during the UCI VGDC 2018 Fall Proto Game Jam in October of 2018. Our theme for creation was spirals, and we took that theme and spun it into a game where every aspect slowly ramps up as the game continues, “spiraling out of control”. We ended up creating a competitive 1v1 local multiplayer physics based arena game, where two players fight to push the other off of the stage.
My Role:
During this jam I acted as a co-lead programmer, as well as UX designer. I helped coordinate and direct our team of 7, 3 programmer, 2 artists, 1 designer, and 1 writer, on various tasks to produce. I ended up doing more direct playtesting and user experience tuning, which I found that I like quite a bit.

Lessons Learned:
This was the first game that I’ve made where development continued after our “release”. It was an interesting and informative experience to work with a team moving forward on a game. We’ve setup quite the roadmap, with a public GitHub and Trello board documenting release changes and status. It’s very different from what I’ve done previously and an interesting challenge.
